Accuracy: Feb 2023 rain for Gisborne/HB foreseen 14 years ago.

THURSDAY JANUARY 05, 2023

It was very tragic and must be prevented if possible in the future. So how was it possible to know, from back then, that there would be a massive amount of rain in the district in 2023? It was not a mystery, long-range weather forecasting has  everything to do with the moon. In our 2023 New Zealand Weather Almanac, (www.predictweather.com) in which we use positions of the moon to forecast heavy weather for the entire country for the whole year, we listed what heavy rain Gis/HB could expect as below, and the book has been available for the past six months. It was the heaviest rain that the HB district would experience for the whole month of February.

So why was there so much water? It is because near the end of January, the moon was the closest that it has come to the earth since 685A.D., i.e. for over 1000 years, and it will not be as close again for another 300 years, until 2368. That means nobody alive today, will ever again see as much rain, or as big a king tide.

Coming at the time of King tides there was bound to be plenty of flooding anyway, especially if the drains were not maintained properly, and also particularly if the foreign owners of the forestry industry were more vigilant in clearing the slash. Had they been aware of the moon’s impact, the result may have been much different.

Blaming people is counter-productive, but we can take note, in hindsight, as a warning for the good of the community in what is to come. So why didn’t we warn the people in time? The answer is that we did, since the beginning of December on our website, but the mainstream media will not print our predictions. Many think that this is the future of meteorology, and the sooner climate scientists drag themselves away from their computer models, the better it will be for everyone.

Using the lunar principles, it is possible to forecast devastating events infinitely into the future. It seems impossible, but one only needs to look at the evidence for what has just occurred to say that it is not a fluke that we named the actual dates. It is the moon that causes all the rain in any particular district and the science was very much established in ancient texts, and by the Greeks, but relatively unknown to all today except a few members of the NZ farming community.

We have been issuing our NZ weather almanacs since 1999. The method is to look at historical data going back to the late 1800s, and find out the cycle due to the moon, then what weather occurred on those days. As well, we follow the 11.58-yr sunspot cycles, and plot our position, well into what is now, sunspot cycle #25. Solar minimum was in Dec 2020. For unless we see what the evaporation rate in the past was, we do not know the amounts of water that must be gathered in the atmosphere to fall for the next time around.

So, what is coming up for Gisborne/HB?

March

Watch out for the last week of March 2023, when just a few days out on from another unusually high king tide on 23rd may see heavy flooding in the district once more.

April, May, July and especially November/December.                                                There may be more flooding in HB, in these months. You can see the dates that we believe the flooding will occur at the top of this page under "Forecasts". But we will tell you for free at the beginning of each month. Watch this page. Allow 1-2 days error. To be forewarned is to be prepared.
